GQ, the magazine that published a piece called ‘F*** Ben Carson’, just named ex-NFL player Colin Kaepernick ‘Citizen of the Year.’

Man-crushing over the guy who wore socks with pictures of pigs as cops and started that all-American, patriotic habit of kneeling to show disrespect for the national anthem, GQ writes:

He’s been vilified by millions and locked out of the NFL—all because he took a knee to protest police brutality. But Colin Kaepernick’s determined stand puts him in rare company in sports history: Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson—athletes who risked everything to make a difference.

Right. Jackie Robinson had baseballs thrown at him on the diamond and bottles chucked at him off of it. Ali was thrown in jail.

Kaepernick, the poor fella,  has a net worth estimated at $17.2 million and he received $39.4 million at the end of a seven-year deal in 2014.

The NFL scouts at GQ moaned. “Approximately 90 men are currently employed as quarterbacks in the NFL, as either starters or reserves, and Colin Kaepernick is better—indisputably, undeniably, flat-out better—than at least 70 of them. He is still, to this day, one of the most gifted quarterbacks on earth.” Yeah, not so much.

Some defended the magazine’s choice…

…others didn’t.

Still without a job Kaepernick continues his protests.  In addition to the GQ cover, he’s reportedly landed a $1 million book deal.
