During Tuesday’s edition of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Joe Scarborough told the world he’s leaving the Republican Party.

Echoing sarcastically throughout the land, the entire nation responded with a collective “no kidding”.

Longtime host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Scarborough is a former four-term GOP Congressman who was once known as a firebrand fiscal conservative.

In his time at the liberal cable news network, the biggest surprise has been his complete makeover from conservative to yap-dog critic of conservatives.

Perhaps he’s been hanging around too long with his co-host and new fiancee, Mika Brzezinski, whose father was a national security advisor to LBJ and Carter.

In any event, in his current iteration, Republicans were not at all surprised to hear this news. This is the same man who was targeted in an RNC press release in May for a laundry list of kvetches that Scarborough aired on his program:

Once a respected forum for intelligent discourse, the program has turned into three hours of far-left hysteria, filled with more faux scandal and innuendo than a bad episode of Gossip Girl.

During Wednesday’s program, the crew spent the majority of time discussing misspelled tweets, White House staffing plans, uncorroborated Russia stories, and the supposed horror of President Trump giving his cell phone number out.

The press release also blasted Morning Joe for their treatment of Al Franken:

To top it off, Senator Franken joined the program and didn’t receive a single question on the biggest issue in front of him today, the fact that he is holding an event with Kathy Griffin in July and refuses to cancel it. You’d have to turn to another network to hear that question asked.

On Donald Trump, Scarborough has been all over the place, having first propped him up before tearing him down at every turn. He’s also become a Hillary fanboi, opening wondering how she could have lost the election months after the fact.

Twitter quickly corrected him a couple of months ago by reminding him that she’s Hillary Clinton. Of course, he still hasn’t taken the clue.

Joe says he’s going to become an independent, but by all accounts, it really is only a matter of time before he becomes an out-and-proud Democrat.
