After US Capitol Police were called by congressional aides, an attempt to confront Al Franken at his office this afternoon led to tense moments.

It came after a morning event at the National Press Club calling for his resignation. There, the Media Equality Project, along with Kathleen Willey, Leslie Millwee, Juanita Broaddrick and others stormed Senator Al Franken’s office at the Hart Senate Office Building.

In the wake of a series of sexual harassment allegations that have plagued the Minnesota Democrat, the group demanded he leave office immediately.

With Franken himself hiding behind a door, staffers ran interference, refusing to speak to Project Co-Founders Melanie Morgan, Brian Maloney and the dozen or so protesters.

As tensions increased, his office called police, quickly resulting in a lobby overloaded with people.
