Between North Korea’s nuclear threats, recovery from Harvey in Texas and potentially the most powerful hurricane in history headed toward Florida, the news cycle is overloaded.

To CNN and other networks absolutely obsessed with the current president, does this make 24/7 Trump-bashing more difficult?

Sensing an opening between missile launches and storms, the cable network devoted most of its day to attacking his decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), which allows adults who arrived in the US illegally as children to remain in the country.

And when former President Obama stepped in with a statement calling Trump’s decision “wrong”, CNN treated it as a major news story:

DACA repeal then dominated CNN’s coverage throughout the afternoon:

Is this really the time for CNN’s partisan political agenda?

Imminent nuclear war, a truly dangerous storm and recovery from Hurricane Harvey in Houston are exponentially more important at this time than immigration policy (and a former president’s position on his successor’s policies). Partisan conflicts must take a back seat.
