In defiance of Donald Trump, the mayor of Boston says he’s ready to house illegal immigrants at city hall if needed. Could something this unusual actually occur?

With the new president cracking down on so-called sanctuary cities, where federal immigration laws are intentionally disregarded, some mayors are fighting back.

Boston’s Marty Walsh says he will allow some to live inside city hall if necessary. How the infamously-ugly civic building could be coverted to residential use is unclear.

Calling the new Trump policy “a direct attack on Boston’s people”, Walsh blasted Trump on CNN during a segment airing last night.

To what extent will mayors be able to defy a president who in response could conceivably yank federal funding for their cities?
